Go windsurfing. Go play. 7.23

Good morning everyone!

An upper low slides across Washington today, covering Portland in marine clouds and driving a solid thermal gradient across the Gorge. The early morning gradient was massive at .19, and winds were already blowing in the upper twenties from hood River to Mosier. By mid-morning, we’ll see 29-33 from Hood River to Doug’s. (Is it windy yet?) This afternoon, winds fill in all the way from Stevenson out to Arlington. Get up and go get it!

Today’s the day to get the strong wind, because tomorrow brings lighter wind as a ridge of high pressure builds over the Northwest. Early winds tomorrow blow in the upper teens, holding though the day, and probably hitting the low twenties in the afternoon .

AT this point, it looks like we’ll see 17-21 westerlies in the dorridor on Saturday. Sunday’s looking pretty hot and light.

After you’re tired of windsurfing or kiting today, head down to the Event Site to check out the US Windsurfing Nationals from 11 to 5. After that, head to the Skylight theatre to watch The Windsurfing Movie on the big screen with pro windsurfers Kai Lenny and Levi Siver.

Other events tonight include the Post and Pint ride out of Dirty Fingers Bike repair at 5:30. At the event site this evening there’s the Big Winds standup paddle races and the Hood River weekly Triathlon.

Finally, if you’re a surfer, windsurfer or kiter, don’t forget the long-period south swell hitting the Oregon coast this weekend.

Wahtever you do today, have an awesome day!
