6.23 Rest Day Forecast (go ride a bike!)

Good morning Gorge sports fanatics!

If you’re a windsurfer or kiter and your arms are tired, it’s time to celebrate. Today is a recovery day, with light winds in the Gorge. If you’re still desperate for wind, you can head to the central coast for 15-20 with a 5 foot swell.

This respite from the wind will be brief. Tomorrow starts off light, with high pressure over the Northwest. By tomorrow afternoon, a front approaches the coast, sending cold air towards Portland and ramping up Gorge winds. Timing will be key with this frontal approach. I think we have a 50/50 chance of 17-21 tomorrow afternoon. I'd give us a 155 chance of 23-26 late in the evening (but hey, it's light until 9pm, so maybe that should be a 20% chance).

The front passes over the Gorge late Wednesday night or early Thursday morning, sending deep clouds into the western Gorge, but leaving the desert under clear skies. There’s only one solution to that word problem: west winds in the gorge. Thursday looks like 24-27 at this point, but don’t mark your calendar until we get closer.

Group activies tonight include Bingo at the Hood River adult center. No, I’m serious. It’s fun, and it benefits a good cause. If you’re a gal and you’d like something more active, tonight is the Big Winds SUPper club. That’s free stand-up paddle demos at the Event Site. Give Big Winds a call to RSVP, because they’ve been swamped with 30-50 women every week. Don’t worry, though. You’ll get a chance to try it out!

Boaters, the Whtie Salmon’s at 2.75 feet, the Little White’s at 400 cfs and the Wind River’s at 280 cfs.

Whatever you do today, have an awesome day!

Sorry I tried to post on your contact link, but was unable, so I'm trying here.

Aloha,
Thanks for putting all the time, energy, and stoke into your forecasts, it's awesome!
Last summer while I was gorge I would listen to your forecasts everyday, it was great.
When I was up over this Past Memoday Weekend, I could'nt find or remember which station it was.
Are you still doing radio?
And if so what station?
Time(s)?
Mahalo, and keep it wet and windy,
D.
