Good morning gorge sports fanatics and happy National Skateboard day and happy Summer Solstice!
Thanks to everyone who showed up yesterday to help weed the waterfront park in Hood River! It’s looking awesome down there.
So… it was very windy at 6am and it’s goint to get windier. The early morning gradient was at .132, .06 and .26 and winds were near thirty at Maryhill at 6am. Watch for morning winds from 25-30 from d’oug’s eastward. If te marine layer burns back a bit, the Hatchery and Mosier will join the party too.. For the epic session, hold out for this evening at Maryhill, Arlington and Threemile, where nuclear is the word of the day. 31-34 is the call in the desert late this afternoon.Being exhausted from a string of 545am wakeups, I am now going back to bed. I'll get up later, since I of course trust my forecast (ha ha ha).
The windy streak continues tomorrow, with clouds burying Stevenson’s supplicant sun worshippers while sunshine burns the wind buffeted faces of Arlington locals. Early morning winds will be in the 21-23 range. By afternoon, we’ll see 23-26 everywhere east of the clouds.
Get your windsurfing in today and tomorrow, because Tuesday looks like national wakeboard with Cathy Carter day!
Mountain bikers, there’s a work party at Cook Meadows on Saturday. Mark your calendar now so you don’t forget. Ranger Jim will kick my ass if I don't tell you about this, but I too think it's an awesome project. New trails rock, and Jim's done an awful lot of work getting new trails established. Go help him out. Also, Skibowl’s lift-serve mountain bike park is now open. Tired of wasting time and gas shuttling? Head to skibowl and take the lift!
Whitewater boaters, the Hood’s at 3.9 feet, the White Salmon’s at 3.5 feet, the Little White’s at 550 cfs, and the Wind River’s at 420 cfs.
Whatever you do today, have an awesome day!
