Good morning Gorge sports fanatics! First off, I’d like to wish wind forecaster, ski champ, and fearless windsurfer Victor the Inflictor a happy 60th birthday, one day late. If you run into the Inflictor, wish him the best!
Today’s pick is free Tai Chi in Hood River. Meet at Wilson Park for a class from 6-7 tonight. Beginners are welcome, and instruction is available. Tai Chi translates to something like “supreme ultimate first.” Despite this, it’s a calming, stress-relieving martial art that might just mellow you our or relax your aching, overused gorge sports muscles. Come check it out… that’s 6-7, tonight, at Wilson Park.
If you’re a windsurfer or kiter, today is looking like a rest day for you. Portland is cloudy, but those clouds just aren’t going to be enough to balance out low pressure off the Oregon coast. Winds will stay light until late this afternoon, when high pressure slips between the coastal low and Oregon, causing onshore gradients to increase. The after work session today, if the timing is right, will be in the 17-20 range.
When the low finally moves in, winds will die, leaving us with glassy to light conditions tomorrow. Those light Gorge winds might be paired with high clouds and convection, giving us some thunderstorms for the next couple of days.
Boaters, the Hood’s at 4.6 feet, the White Salmon’s at 3.4 feet, the Little White’s at 480 cfs, and the Wind River’s at 370 cfs.
Whatever you do today, have an awesome day!
