Good morning gorge sports fanatics!
It’s a beautiful, sunny light wind morning in the Gorge. If you’re hoping for wind this afternoon, well, you may want to call your friends with ski boats. It’s going to be near ninety degrees this afternoon, with glassy to very light wind.
Tomorrow morning starts out the same as today, with no whitecaps and possible glass on the river. By afternoon, though, high pressure builds at the coast, kicking up some westerlies in the central Gorge. We’ll see 15-18 by midday tomorrow, first at Stevenson and then shifting to Hood River. Late afternoon winds build to 18-22.
Models are all over the place for the weekend, but for now, I’ll say 17-21 both days.
Now, mountain biking. I have conflicting reports for Surveyor’s ridge. Several people say it’s clear. Yesterday I received an email telling me it’s not. So, skipping the highest section of the trail is advisable. Dog River is confirmed perfect, as it Mitchell Ridge. Kniebel is reported as open. 8-mile is reported as mostly clear or covered in snow and blowdown, depending on your source. Bottle Prarie is NOT open.
Speaking of biking… sort of… tonight is the Hood River Triathlon. Meet at the Event Site at 545 for a 500 yard swim, a 7 mile bike, and a 2 mile run. It’s free, fun, and fabulous!
Boaters, the Hood’s at 5.1 feet, the White Salmon’s at 4.7 feet, the Little White’s at 800 cfs and the Wind River’s at 790 cfs.
Whatever you do today, have an awesome time!
