Good morning Gorge sports fanatics, and once again, happy Victoria Day weekend to all you Canadians.
I'm headed up to Timberline for some ski touring today. I'm absolutely trashed after rock climbing yesterday. I hope you have as much fun this weekend!
It’s another beautiful day in the Gorge today, and that's a good start for a good day. We’re starting off with light winds, well, no wind actually, but we’ll see some whitecaps later today. Starting mid afternoon, we’ll see 17-20 in the central Gorge. Head to Stevenson for the earliest wind. By 5pm or so, the wind will fill in to the corridor, and maybe even out to Rowena.
Tomorrow looks similar to today.
I suggest you save your energy for Tuesday. A strong marine push Tuesday morning combines with a passing upper level trough to send desert winds into the 32-38 range Tuesday afternoon. Yes, you heard me right. It’s early to make this call, but I’m going with it. Clear your schedule Tuesday.
If you’re a mountain biker, you’re still riding the spring mainstays: That’s Hospital Hill, Syncline, Post Canyon and Nestor Peak. A friend of mine rode Nestor yesterday and she said it’s in great shape. So… get yourself into riding shape with 2500 feet of vertical gain on Nestor Peak today.
Whitewater boaters, here are your numbers: The White Salmon’s at 4.97 feet, the Little White’s at 872 cfs, the Wind River’s at 991 cfs and the Hood’s at 5.62 feet.
Finally, don’t forget that today is swap meet day at Windance. Head over there to upgrade your gear before you hit the water, the trail, or the snow today. And if you’re feeling extra perky, there’s a 12k race at the twin tunnels today.
And whatever you do today, have an awesome time doing it!
