Hello everyone! I know you want to go windsurfing and kiting, but I've got something better for you to do this morning.
Today’s morning pick is Skibowl. Free Skibowl. F-R-E-E customer appreciation day. It’s only 20 minutes past Meadows – and Meadows is closed anyway – so get in your car and go!. While you’re there, make sure you grab several friends (preferably I'll be one of them, because I love this) and order a plate of Skibowl’s foot-high nachos. Yummy. Oh, and the snow, it should be in pretty good shape today after a couple of freeze/thaw days.I would like to hike out into the backcountry and do some skinning. If anyone is up for that, please drop me a note tonight or give me a call. I could use a partner.
If you’re a windsurfer or kiter hoping for wind, I don’t have much hope to offer you today. High pressure shifts over the Norhtwest shifts east later today, allowing clouds to push in from the coast. Onshore flow increases as a front approaches. It’s a matter of timing if it will happen early enough to get your kite in the air or your sail full of wind. I suspect the westerlies won’t hit until after dark, but go ahead and hold out hope for 15ish late afternoon. If we get really, really lucky, we'll see more than that, but honestly, I'd be surprised to see whitecaps Sunday.
Overnight winds Sunday into Monday will be strong with the frontal passage, leading to a windy M onday morning, just in time for everyone to go back to work. 28-32 is my conservative call for Monday, all day, east of the cloud line. I suspect Doug’s, Avery, Arlington and Three mile are the spots Monday, with a southerly component making everywhere else gusty. I am planning on going climbing at Smith on Monday (gasp!!!), so if you want to get in on that action, let me know abou that as well.
The mountain bike report says that Post Canyon is still muddy. Let it be . It's going to stay muddy with all the rain we'll get this week. Syncline is in great shape. Go there.
Boaters, the Hood’s at 5.56 feet, the White Salmon’s at 5.48 feet and the Wind River’s at 1176 cfs.The rivers are going to come back up later this week. That's good news for some of you and bad news for others. Time your boating carefully this week.
Whatever you do today, have an awesome day!
