This is a good news bad news wind report. The good news is that’s it’ll be windy somewhere today. The bad news is that the somewhere isn’t really the Gorge. The somewhere we’re talking about is the coast, the whole coast and nothing but the coast. It’s 20 knots in the north, 25-30 at Florence and 30+ at Pistol. Today’s swell is 7 feet, so the coast is my pick today We'll see a little wind in the Gorge today... maybe if you have a very big kite or slalom windsurfing gear, you'll be windsurfing or kiteboarding.
The weekend looks windy at the coast and calm and sunny in the Gorge, so if you want to windsurf or kiteboard, you’re heading to the beach.Oh darn... we have to go to the beach? Life sucks, doesn't it?
If you’re staying in the Gorge, there’s plenty to do today, Saturday and Sunday.
Let the mountain bike trails rest and recover today. It’s a muddy mess out there, except for Syncline. Remember, when you ride muddy trails, you take the trail home with you. Leave the trail where it belongs. And... muddy trails are hard on your bike!
Speaking of biking, 10 Speed East in Mosier is putting on a free bike tune clinic tomorrow at 1pm. We’ll call this an unofficial group ride: meet at 10 Speed west coffee at 11:45 tomorrow to get a hand stamp. Ride to 10 speed east, show your stamp, adn get a free coffee! And remember, coffee is the only legal performance enhancer out there!
And hey boaters, the rivers are ripping: the Hood’s at 6.68 feet, the White Salmon’s at 7 feet, the Little White’s at 1328 cfs, and the Wind River’s at 1809 cfs.
