4.21 Better late than never *sigh*

Good morning Gorge sports fanatics!

Windsurfers and kiteboarders, you’re up first: Today starts off with light winds, but by afternoon, we’ll see 17-21 in the central Gorge and 21-24 out at Doug’s and Rowena. Gradients hold overnight tonight, setting up dawn patrol tomorrow morning.

Tomorrow’s best wind location depends on the cloudline, but you’ll get your kite in the air or your big sail planing in the central gorge for dawn patrol. Get east of the cloudline to escape gustiness, and you’ll be ripping in 28-32 mph winds from late morning on. With high pressure at the coast and low pressure in the desert, and flow due west, I’m voting for Doug’s, The Wall, and Arlington for consistent high-wind blasting.

Central coast northerlies kick in today, with Florence seeing 20-25 knots by this afternoon. Coast winds blow tomorrow as well, with 20-25 at the central coast and 25-20 at the south coast. A 6 foot swell rounds out the forecast for a couple of picture-perfect wavesailing days.

If you’re not up for 49-degree watersports, ride your bike. Mitchell Ridge is perfect right now. Many thanks to Doug Van Zandt and all the other people who built the new section of Spaghetti Factory. You guys did a great job putting in a killer new section of trail!

Skiers and snowboarders, hit the slopes early today. Take your shovel, beacon and probe, and join me and my Axl bindings in hiking Superbowl today for 1500 extra vertical!

Whatever you do, have an awesome day today!
