4.15 (posted 4.14 pm) Forecast

Good morning Gorge sports fanatics. We’re approaching another warm and sunny weekend, so dust off your sunscreen and search out your bikini! Until then…

It’s still cold and snowy on the mountain, and the snow at Meadows is in excellent shape. Cascade will be open today, so head up for the steeps of upper Heather! If you’re working all day, drive to Skibowl for night skiing tonight. They open at 3, and they’ve been closed for the last two days, so the snow there should be in excellent shape!

Windsurfers and kiteboarders will be teased today. Do pack your gear in the car before you head to work. The promised coastal high pressure takes its time arriving, with 18-22 mile per hour winds until late afternoon. Around 5pm, just in time for the end-of-work bell, winds pick up at Doug’s, and maybe even the corridor, reaching the upper twenties before dark if we’re lucky. If we're not, late night wind will keep us awake, jonesing for water time.

High pressure builds over the entire Northwest on Thursday, shutting down winds, clearing skies and sending temperatures into the mid sixties. By then, mountain bike trails should dry out some. Cross your fingers… if Post Canyon dries out, you can ride the Post and Pint with the Dirty Fingers Bike Repair Crew. Listen tomorrow for the call… Don't forget that it's cow time at Hospital Hill. Do not take your dog, and do not park at Spring Street. If you do, you will get all of us banned from that ride, and that would be a shame.

Speaking of Post Canyon, there’s a work party this Saturday. Meet at the bottom of the dirt road at 9am. If you use the trail, show up and help make it better! You’ll be stoked riding on what you help build!

Have an awesome day today, whatever you do!
