My number one suggestion today is that you go skiing. Mostly I am suggesting this because there's significant new snow for the first time in recent memory. There's another reason to go today: the snow level is going up (AGAIN, damnit) this weekend, bringing more rain to the slopes.
Laura and I went up yesterday afternoon (instead of windsurfing, of course) and had a nice ski in the wind. The mountain breezes were strong enough to make nice powder stashes in wind-favored spots, and the snow was heavy enough to stick to the blue ice in most places. So... it was pretty good skiing yesterday afternoon, if you avoided the icy mogul fields.
Although telemetry is reporting only 5 inches of new, I suspect there's a more in sheltered spots. There was, after all, 4-5" yesterday at 1pm, and there's been half an inch of water value accumulation since then (and it has not been raining). If you can handle skiing in the wind (30-50 right now), you should go to the mountain today. FYI Vista and Cascade are on weather hold. Jack's and PR were open yesterday and should open today. As for the rest of Heather... Patrol is up there shooting at it with their new toy right now.
If you'd like to kite or windsurf, you should be able to today (but not tomorrow or the next day). It's hard to tell with winter frontal passages just how strong the wind will be, but we have a .13 gradient now, enough for low to mid twenties. I'm guessing the strongest winds will be from Doug's to Maryhill around midday today, fading as the day goes on.
Ski and then windsurf? Windsurf and then ski? Just make brownies?
By the way, I'm over cookies. I'm all about brownies now.
Have a great day!
