Hello windsurfers, kiteboarders, skiers, snowboarders and telemarkers.
(now we'll see if google can get some appropriate ads up there)
Today brought another super windy and snowy day up at Mt. Hood Meadows. I was on my way up when someone stopped me and said, "Don't do it! It's sooooooooooo windy up there!" Tomorrow (that's Tuesday) should see light winds, with plenty of fresh snow from today and overnight. It shouldn't be snowing that hard tomorrow, so I'm going to vote for heading up!
Winds and snowfall will pick up again in the late afternoon tomorrow, and blizzard conditions will prevail overnight on the hill.
At this point, Wednesday is looking pretty mellow on the hill, wind wise, with lots of new snow from Tuesday night.
If you're looking to windsurf or kite, head to the desert tomorrow afternoon (Tuesday) for 30+. Brrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr. I hope you have a really good wetsuit, a thermos full of hot tea or cocoa, and a buddy to sail with. Maybe try calling Julia at NOAA... she went windsurfing at Roosevelt today.
Anyway... I'm going tomorrow new snow or not. I have a brand new pair of Garmont Elektra telemark boots that I bought myself for Christmas.
