Meadows was awesome yesterday. I'm so bummed I can't go today. They've had 44 inches in the last 48 hours, and Shooting Star and MHE are both open now.
If you can skip work and ski today, do so. It's going to be incredible.
I'm curious if a shuttle bus from Hood River to Meadows is a viable option. Meadows isn't considering it, but I am. =) Please take the following 2 question survey for me. http://www.surveymonkey.com/s.aspx?sm=4KR2xo9h7HgludHt06qnvA_3d_3d
Thank you!
The really interesting weather happens on Saturday and Sunday. NOAA says:
AN IMPRESSIVE PACIFIC FRONTAL SYSTEM WILL MOVE INTO THE WESTERN
COLUMBIA RIVER GORGE SATURDAY AFTERNOON THROUGH SUNDAY. THIS
SYSTEM HAS CONSIDERABLE MOISTURE ASSOCIATED WITH IT...AND HAS THE
POTENTIAL TO DROP SIGNIFICANT AMOUNTS OF SNOW OVER THE AREA. THERE
IS STILL QUITE A BIT OF UNCERTAINTY ON AMOUNTS...THOUGH 8 TO 16
INCHES SEEMS REASONABLE. THIS SYSTEM ALSO WILL BE ACCOMPANIED BY
VERY STRONG EAST WINDS PERHAPS GUSTING IN EXCESS OF 60 MPH...
CREATING BLIZZARD CONDITIONS.
My guess would be that I-84 will close. Please do not go windsurfing or kiting in these conditions. =)
Have a good one!
