Onshore flow penetrated farther than expected last night, bringing Hood River temperatures above the freezing level. NOAA had forecast 21 degrees overnight, but temperatures climbed to 34 degrees, causing rain to fall instead of snow. According to NOAA, temperatures will drop later today, turning rain back into snow.
Meadows saw 16 inches of snow overnight. Should be excellent up there today. Everyone I know has plans to head to Meadows for unofficial Hood River Opening Day today!
Skies should clear tomorrow, and arctic air will push back into the Gorge. East winds will blast (50ish) at Rooster. Should be a beautiful day, if a bit windy, on the mountain!
The next snowstorm in town starts sometime Saturday. I wouldn't be surprised to see a foot between Saturday and Sunday.
Have fun!
