Wild Weather Forecast

Hello everyone,

I'm writing to let you know a few things.

1. Sailable easterlies Thursday
2. Nuclear conditions late Friday, but probably not before dark.
3. Nuclear conditions combined with blizzard conditions in the eastern Gorge early Saturday.
4. If you're crazier than me, nuclear east winds will be blowing for your pleasure starting Sunday. Temperatures will be well below freezing. I recommend touring the Gorge to watch the wind and look at the rapidly freezing waterfalls.

However, I'm really writing because I'm concerned about the possibility of power outages Friday night as temperatures start falling. I wouldn't be surprised to see 50+ knot gusts through the Gorge, especially out east. This doesn't always cause power outages, 'cause we're so wind-prepared here in the Gorge. It's worth having a flashlight and extra blankets around on Friday evening, just in case.

Also, don't forget to wrap your pipes and do all the other things you're supposed to do ahead of a cold snap. Highs will be in the teens next week. Brrrrrrrrrrrrrr!

If you haven't bought a sled yet for the 7th Street sledding fun, please do so now, before they sell out. We will see snow or ice on the ground in the next week, especially when the next front slides over the top of the freezing air mass. That could be a total mess when it happens.

Somehow, I still get excited about snow days. =)

Stay warm!

-Temira
