Thursday Arthur for Mayor Wind Forecast

Hi Everyone,

First, one quick piece of news: Earlier this month I endorsed Arthur Babitz for mayor. Yesterday, Larry Spelling over at Hoodriverweater.blogspot.com endorsed Arthur as well. You trust us for your weather; now trust us with your vote!  (that, by the way, is partially, but only partially, tongue in cheek)

Yesterday’s nuclear east winds faded overnight. We already have west gradients, and we're going to see westerlies this afternoon. We’ll have 15-18 by midday. As a dissipating front approaches, winds climb into the low twenties from the corridor out to Arlington.

Friday looks like a repeat of today, as far as wind goes. Light westerlies, perhaps becoming low twenties later.

Saturday looks calm to start, followed by building easterlies in the afternoon. Sunday is looking like another round of strong east winds.

Incidentally, the coast is going off right now, and I’m not talking about wind. The waves are big, “hazardous” to quote NOAA. I could be wrong, but I believe “hazardous” means Seaside Point is going off. If you’d like to kite or windsurf the big waves, your best bet is either Florence or Pistol.

Finally, you mountain bikers listen up. There’s a USFS work party at Cook Meadows on Saturday. Mark your calendars. You’re coming up to help us build a trail! Join me and the Dirty Fingers crew. This will be Halloween practice; you must wear long pants, boots, a helmet (any sort of helmet is ok) and a suit of armor. One of those is optional.

Anyway, please come help out with this trail building party. This is your chance to give something back to the people who maintain your trails (that's USFS).

Have a great day!
