Good morning my sporty friends!
We had a beautiful string of weather the last week, but today’s going to break it… sort of. See, the trails took a hammering over the weekend, releasing ball bearings from the tack. A day of sprinkles is only going to reset the trail perfection. As for today in the forest, well, you were looking to get muddy, right?
In addition, the rain is brought to you today by a strong, fast moving cold front. Such entities drive eastern Gorge winds into the strong range. The location of best wind is dependent on the location of the final cloud line after the front passes. Chance are, given the strength of this system, that Arlington, Threemile and Boardman are your best bets.
NOAA says the front will pass midday, so wait until noon to start checking your chosen wind-reporting device.
Another positive aspect of today’s front is the cold. Cold air makes me chilly, but falling snow in the mountains makes me warm from my heart outwards. NOAA says 2-4” at the resorts.
This rain will only last a day. By tomorrow, high pressure and sunny skies hold sway over the northwest, bringing light winds for the road bikers.
Strong high pressure takes over on Wednesday, driving strong east winds. Stevenson will see upper twenties and Rooster will see mid thirties. If you live in these places, please tie down your small animals and loose yard decorations… such as flamingos and gnomes.
Stay out of trouble everyone! Dress warmly!
See you on the water!
