Happy Hot Weekend

Hi Everyone,

I'm moving out of my condo for the summer so I can do vacation rentals. That's always fun. It involves cleaning my house. I clean other people's houses for money, so cleaning my house is a real chore. I can't understand why I can clean a McMansion in 5 hours but need 18 hours to clean my 600 square foot condo.

Anyway,  I know you don't really care about my messy house.

It’s about to get very hot in the Gorge, so it’s time to shift your aerobic activities to the morning hours. Or better yet, switch to a water sport. Punchbowl, Lost Lake, the ice caves, mt hood or that secret swimming hole you won’t even tell your best friend about offer relief from the heat today. Whatever you do, don’t forget to bring plenty of sunscreen and water. The last thing the nice folks at Providence want is to see you get sunstroke or heat exhaustion.

I know you road bikers are thrilled this morning. We finally have some light winds for that Hood River to Rowena ride. Mountain bike trails are in awesome shape, including kniebal and 8mile, while might be a bit cooler than the valley rides

Windsurfers and kiters. Winds are light today, but Gorge easterlies pick up overnight. tomorrow morning brings 25+ from Home Valley to Rooster Rock. go early. The heat low shifts east in the afternoon, shutting off the wind. The coast is an option today with  25 knots from the North Coast to Bandon and a five foot swell. It doesn't look like the coast winds will stick around all weekend, so it may not be worth the drive. Then again, today is going to be fantastic.

Kayakers, rafters and innertubers, the white salmon is at 4.17 feet, the hood is at 4.73 feet and the little white is at 695cfs.

Tonight is the bootids meteor shower. It’s a fickle show. We could see 1 meteor an hour or we could see a hundred. Watch the western sky; meteors appear to come from the constellation herdsman.

This weekend is Windfest. There isn't going to be much wind in Hood River, but there will still be lots of cool gear to look at. We'll be making margaritas (theoretically, anyway) at the Hot Sails/2nd Wind booth.

Have a nice hot day.

East Wind was "ripping!!" at Stevenson today (Saturday) according to one eye witness account.... of course, this was from a kiter.

I been watching it.... not much to be had for windsmurfing, quite honestly, unless you're into schlogging along with a lame 6+ sail
