Hot Sunny Tanning Forecast

Good Morning Sailors!

We've got some fantastic activities coming up over the next few days. First, today and tomorrow bring epic tanning conditions to Hood River and the rest of Oregon. High temperatures in the 80s-90s burn tan lines into the bums and backs of anyone bold enough to don a bikini in on a sunny windsurfing beach. Or better yet, climb into your bikini and hit the river in a ski boat. Glassy conditions today, and most likely tomorrow as well, will make for a perfect start to ski season.

East winds develop overnight tonight, but the shifting thermal trough isn't going to let them continue for long tomorrow. Look for 18-21mph easterlies tomorrow morning, fading as the day goes on. A better call is the coast, where northerlies fill in from Florence to the Washington border. Wind direction will be ENE, or NE at best, making my favorite spot (Trudy knows what I'm talking about) rather gusty and shifty.

Coast winds turn more offshore on Friday, and the Gorge remains light. Temperatures climb into the 90's across Oregon, making for perfect BBQ and tanning and ski boat weather (my comma just malfunctioned and so did my period) period

Gorge winds turn around Saturday afternoon, starting out with light westerlies. Look for dawn patrol and possible nuclear conditions on Sunday.

If you're looking for something fun to do this weekend, please attend the first Columbia Gorge Windsurfing Association Work Party of the season, Saturday, 5/17, 9am to noon-ish. Foremost on the agenda is planting 8 foot trees (I think that means they produce 8 feet per season... 4 new windsurfers, maybe) to replace some of the ones removed two weeks ago by the new Arbor Program "for safety's sake" (some 'Arbor' program if it just removes trees and we have to replace them) that is now in place at all Washington State Parks.

Also, the Mt. Hood Cycling Classic is Sunday in Hood River. Come downtown to watch epic crashes (and to leave more room on the water at Cheap for me).

Gardeners, don't forget to water generously over the next couple of days!

Have a good one, and enjoy the sunshine!

Temira
