4/18 Cold Forecast

Good morning sailors!

Can I change my forecast from yesterday? I just want to let everyone that it's going to blow 30 yesterday at The Wall, and with westerly flow above, the direction will be perfect. In addition, the swell will be big and the crowds will be minimal... yesterday.

Thank you.

Attention: If you are not already an iWindsurf member, you can pick up a $20 discount at http://www.iwindsurf.com/temira or http://www.ikitesurf.com/temira. I tried to negotiate a re-up discount for everyone on the list, but couldn't secure one. So.... if you've been waiting for a little extra motivation to have wind information at your fingertips, here it is.

With winter headed back to the PNW, today looks to be the last windy spring day for a bit. Watch for dawn patrol at Arlington (hah... that was an easy call with it blowing 26 already). No, seriously.

An unseasonably cold and strong low pressure system is dropping down from Alaska. We'll see strong and quite southerly winds to the east of this system (that means out in the desert). Chances are the wind direction will be much better at Arlington than at The Wall today. Winds will easily hit 30 out there with thermal support.

Just a warning: Laura and I sailed Arlington on Tuesday (?). Despite 30+ wind, there was no swell. If you head out expecting only high-wind sailing, you won't be disappointed. If you're expecting epic conditions for your long drive, you may be sad when you arrive.

The next couple of days look better for cooking and reading (hey, Passover is Saturday... perfect) than windsurfing. Temperatures in the 30's will drive all but the most hardcore water bunnies (crazy?) back into their cozy winter caves.

Whatever you choose to do, have a great day and an awesome weekend!
