After all that talk about pancakes yesterday, I had to have Ron and Meredith over for pancake dinner last night. Pancakes made with fresh Maryhill peaches... yummmmmmmmmmy!
Here's a surprise: we're looking at another day of wind today. Under the influence of an upper level disturbance, marine clouds crowded into Portland last night. Although the layer isn't as dense as yesterday, it still spilled beyond Hood River last night. This indicates that we're looking at a Doug's/Rowena day. With upper level flow from the northwest, The Wall should set up nicely again for a late afternoon blow (congrats to Dave, Laura and Dana, who made it to the Wall in time to catch it good yesterday). I'll say 22-26 at Doug's, and 24-28 at The Wall. You decide if that's worth the drive.
Tomorrow's forecast is problematic. A small upper level low slides over western Oregon in the morning hours, sending a deep marine layer and possible showers over the area. If the low pressure covers western Oregon, as expected, winds will shut down until mid-afternoon. Come 3pm or so, they should pick up from the west, enough for (yes, once again) sailboat racing!
Thursday sees a return to today's pattern. Marine deck on the coast, sun in the desert, and west winds in the Gorge. Thursday brings wind on the coast as well, especially at Pistol River, where the Cape sets up for 3.7-4.2.
I'm working all day today, so you kids have fun on the water!
